Foreign Language Subtitle Editor
SDI Media Group is a leading provider of multi-media subtitling, dubbing, and language services to the entertainment industry. We are looking for candidates living in the diverse community of Los Angeles, CA to work in our Miracle Mile office.
Foreign Language Subtitle Editors will proofread foreign language subtitles against English dialogue and American film content. In this quality control position, the editor is responsible for assuring the consistency of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the representation of intended meanings.
WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING EDITORS FOR FOLLOWING LANGUAGES: Dutch, Polish, Castilian Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Estonian, Latvian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Catalan, Croatian, Serbian, Czech, Icelandic, Indonesian, Finnish, Vietnamese > English, Japanese > English, Korean > English, Chinese > English.
Those skilled in foreign languages not mentioned are also welcome to apply.
HOURS: On-Call (flexible, as-needed basis)
SALARY: $13 per hour at hire and $14 per hour after a satisfactory 90-day performance review, Non-Exempt and eligible for overtime.
Candidates should have previous translation experience of at least two years. Excellent speaking, writing, and proofreading skills in the relevant language are necessary. Strong cultural knowledge of the intended audience is required. Entertainment industry experience preferred. Editing software experience such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, etc. is a plus. Must be able to type by touch and have a good working knowledge of MS Word and/or WP, MS Outlook preferred and should be familiar with using the Internet for research.
Although this position is for on-call editors, we may have full-time and contract work for some languages.
