KAET-TV is seeking an Editor/Publisher with experience in public relations and promotional writing to join our Creative Services Department. Responsibilities for producing the station''s monthly program guide include working with Public Broadcasting Service (PBS); writing articles; monitoring and coordinating photography, artwork, and layout. Rewrite other material to eliminate ambiguity; edit for accuracy, style and readability; recommend changes where necessary; and submit to author for review. Maintain own budget and be accountable for expenditures; solicit bids and maintain working relationships with outside vendors. Develop and produce web-based materials and newsletters. Supervise activities of student workers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor''s degree in Journalism, English, or related field AND four years of experience in editing, journalism or editorial research: OR, eight years of progressively responsible experience in editing, journalism or editorial research; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated effective writing skills; experience in public relations, promotional writing and print advertising; high level of proofreading skills, including experience with AP style; experience with Microsoft Word, QuarkXpress or Adobe''s InDesign software; experience with HTML and Web design and publishing and electronic newsletters. Demonstrated high level of organizational skills, attention to detail and effective communication skills. Supervisory experience.
