Have you ever wondered what it takes to produce a student-run newspaper? See firsthand through the eyes of ISU students with, Paper, a 32 minute documentary that follows the process of newspaper creation from the fruits of a story idea to the distribution of the ink-filled pages to the public. Follow the staff of The Vidette as they share with you their individual roles that combine to make a compelling publication. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but the same goes for a newspaper. From the reporters to the photographers to the night editors that perform the final check, it takes a group of around 100 students make up The Vidette. It is only with the cooperation of all of them working together that the paper is made.

Shot over the course of a semester "Paper" sheds light on the hard work that happens behind the scenes. Experience a day in the life as a member of the Vidette Editorial team as they manage staff, write stories, take photos and plan the publication.

The idea of "Paper" was formulated towards the end of Vince's junior year as a staff photographer for the Vidette. "I was thinking so hard about ideas to do a documentary when I had my idea right in front of me…it’s where I work. So it sprouted from there. I was like I’m surrounded by this awesome idea, no one knows how this paper is done and it just hit me,” Vince said.

Coming into his senior year, Vince became one of two photo editors. From this perspective Vince was given the tools to properly execute his vision and in turn, "Paper" was born.
