About
An interview from the 2015 NAB New York Show with David Kirk of Epiphan Video. Epiphan builds some of the world’s most reliable audio visual communication solutions for education, healthcare, live event production, manufacturing, security and transportation. Their field-proven video grabbers and professional streaming and recording products capture, record and stream video from just about any source. In this interview David talks with us about some of their live video production tools for video capture, streaming and recording like Epiphan Pearl \, AV.io HD and AV.io SDI .
Epiphan Pearl gives you Live Video Production, Switching, Streaming and Recording all at your fingertips. Capture 4 HD sources at once with built-in support for SDI (3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI), HDMI™ or DVI and VGA, Pearl can capture just about any video source you have. Audio capture is supported over HDMI and SDI and through stereo TRS audio jacks. Let Pearl set everything for you automatically, or take advantage of the web UI to configure bitrate, frame size, layouts, overlays and more.
Stream to local viewers using browsers or media players or use Pearl’s CDN integration to share with a large audience. You can even stream to Smart TVs and set-top boxes. Have as many as 4 different 1080p streams at 30 fps – all from one Pearl. Pearl’s touch screen lets you scroll through your channels (also know as video streams) to monitor what’s being captured, streamed and recorded by each. Use the front-mounted 3.5 mm audio jack to plug in speakers or headphones for audio monitoring. The touch screen also displays a VU meter to guide decisions regarding audio levels. Publish your live video stream to a large audience using an enterprise streaming server or CDN using RTMP and RTSP.
Epiphan offers a wide range of video grabbers to serve the needs of our customers who require portable USB-based video capture. Although each video grabber is designed to capture signals from specific sources such as SDI, all our video grabbers capture signals from just about any video source including VGA, DVI or HDMI and seamlessly integrate with third party video encoding, scaling and streaming software.
Their video grabbers share many features; deciding which video grabber meets your needs comes down to the input sources, resolutions and interfaces it supports. Refer to the table below to compare USB video grabbers.
AV.io HD is a video capture device that doesn’t require drivers to be installed on your computer—it’s as simple as using a webcam! Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems will automatically detect AV.io HD ensuring compatibility with your favorite software.
AV.io SDI supports resolutions up to 1080p and transfers uncompressed video to your computer at 60 fps with near-zero latency, letting you capture even the tiniest details with perfect clarity. Bring it with you to capture 3G-SDI, HD-SDI or SD-SDI video and share using any computer with a USB port.
