About

An interview from the 2015 PhotoPlus Expo in New York City with Michael Burnham of Kenko Tokina USA. Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is the exclusive U.S. distributor for Tokina lenses, Hoya filters, Kenko photo accessories and SLIK camera support systems. Kenko Tokina USA provides marketing, sales, distribution, and technical/consumer service and support. In this interview Michael talks with us about a wide range of products like the Tokina 24-70mm F2.8, Hoya HD3 Filters, KNEKT GoPro Dome Port, and Tokina Cinema Lenses.

The Tokina AT-X 24-70mm F2.8 PRO FX lens gives photographers with full frame Canon and Nikon camera bodies a 24mm wide-angle to 70mm moderate telephoto lens with a fast F2.8 aperture at an affordable price. The new groundbreaking proprietary optical design uses three precision molded all-glass aspherical lens elements to achieve excellent contrast, sharpness, and corrects for spherical aberrations. One of these elements is very special and difficult to manufacture. G09, is made from Super-Low Dispersion (SD) glass and is a large sized aspherical element.

Developed to exceed the sharpness needs of 50-megapixel cameras entering the market, the Hoya HD3 UV (Ultraviolet) camera filter sports a new and improved 32-layer ultra-smooth, ultra-hard, nano-coating that is 5x sharper and 800% harder than the Hoya HD2 UV. Combined with the exclusive chemically enhanced Hoya optical UV glass which is 4X harder than traditional optical glass the new Hoya HD3 UV lives up to "Hoya Tough" and is the NEW "Toughest Filter on the Planet".

The Hoya HD3 Circular Polarizer camera filter sports a new and improved 16-layer ultra-smooth, ultra-hard nano-coating that is 2x sharper and 200% harder than the award-winning HD2 Circular Polarizer. Combined with Hoya’s exclusive High-Transparency polarizing film that allows 2/3rds of a stop more light transmission than standard circular polarizing films, the new HD3 Circular polarizer is faster, sharper, and “Hoya Tough”.

The KNEKT semi-hemispherical 6” dome port is one of the most advanced accessories available for the GoPro. Moving the waterline away from the lens dramatically improves underwater functionality and image quality. The Field of view is increased by over 30%, images are cleaner and the minimal focal distance is improved by nearly 50%. During production we pressure test the KSD6 Dome Port to a depth of 135ft, this exceeds the depth rating of the GoPro Hero 3+ and Hero 4 housings. If you use a GoPro underwater without the KSD6 Dome Port you are missing out on all that your camera has to offer.
