About
An interview from the 2015 PhotoPlus Expo in New York City with Jillian Bell of Tamron USA. From consumer products such as photographic lenses in a wide assortment of focal lengths for full-frame and APS-C digital SLR (DSLR) cameras and Sony mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, to industrial products like Industrial Optics lenses and Panorama Cameras, and ultra-high precision lens elements, to its OEM products for other manufacturers, Tamron offers products that overflow with creativity. In this interview Jillian talks with us about their new Tamron 35mm & 45mm SP Prime Lenses.
The SP Series lenses have been technologically redefined from the core to achieve superior optical performance — including new functionality, handling, and a smart, physical design — to bring out the potential of today’s advanced camera systems that offer high pixel density. Though an image stabilization system is uncommon in a standard lens, Tamron’s VC system is a critical feature in the new SP line. The smaller pixel size of higher pixel count cameras led them to research the demands on lenses, and the VC system has proven its ability to maximize the performance of the camera.
The new SP Series 35mm lens produces stunning high-resolution quality across a wide range of focusing distances. In particular, this lens features a milestone of proximity never before achieved with a standard lens – at an MOD of 0.2m. The 45mm format is the closest approximation to human field of vision and captures high-resolution shots to an unparalleled degree of resolving power. Furthermore, the integration of VC into a 45mm fast standard prime lens for full-frame DSLR cameras is an industry-first. Compose an image at will, without regard to shooting distance or ambient lighting constraints – to produce crisp, tack sharp images from F/1.8 full open aperture.
