About
PBS contracted BMG to produce a live-to-tape townhall broadcast, “America After Charleston”, hosted by PBS Newshour’s Gwen Ifill. The 60-minute special explored issues that had been recently brought to light after a shooting at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. With two weeks lead-time, PBS turned to a trusted broadcast partner to tackle the project. BMG produced all technical aspects of the broadcast, including lighting, staging, technical support and logistics, broadcast operations and consulting, technical equipment procurement and production crewing. The show was shot using 10 cameras in front of a live studio audience at the Circular Congregational Church in downtown Charleston, SC, built in 1892.
