About
“The 3rd Footman” is a situation comedy set in 1901 Rhode Island that follows self-important 3rd Footman, Gryffwn Mandrake, as he leads the staff of Scented Geranium Cliff on impractical and bizarre exploits while striving for promotion, money, status, and possibly a girlfriend. Irresponsible, myopic, incompetent, delusional, and unaware Gryffwn believes his eventual advancement to Butler is inevitable. It’s not.
“The 3rd Footman” puts a modern sitcom story structure into a time period that we think we know more about than we really do (“Arrested Development” meets Remains of the Day). It should attract viewers other off kilter comedies like “Saxondale,” “Blackadder,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” or “Malcolm in the Middle.”
