About

This video portrays an idea of current threat of mankind over nature; how we have forgotten that nature is what keeps us alive. At the end of the day it is the ego of man that destroys the true beauty around him. The music for this video is adopted from the film ‘Samsara.’

The movie opens with a master or wide shot of the sun. The sun radiates light, life and energy for everyone to share equally. The shots of the dolphins surfing juxtapose on the man surfing. This reveals how human needs are the number one priority even it means to but other elements of nature in harms way. As the montage continues disturbing images reveal some dolphins been slaughtered. The dolphins were slaughtered and yet it was swimming in the ocean playing its role in the ecosystem. The surfer, surfing in red water, represents the disrespect towards nature.

The zebras running freely in the open savannah contrasts with a shot of skyscrapers. This portrays the disturbance of deforestation for the animals. In contrast the animals travel and live together in herds, yet humans have a typically large amount of space to live and just for themselves. I used the shot of the two humans gazing on the balcony and juxtaposed with a shot of the elephants. This states that the needs of as little as two humans dwarf the needs of the great elephant, in the egocentrically minded humans.

The shot of the sun rising against the trees portrays that the energy is required for the trees to nourish. The tall skyscraper indicates that humans will eventually succeed all the energy from the sun to power their skyscrapers instead. The skyscrapers are steadily becoming the new trees; the greed of humankind is absorbing all of nature’s resources and maintaining all of it for themselves. The dinosaurs became instinct by a meteor but humans wiped out the dodos.

The final shot reveals the volcanoes erupting and in contrast to the fireworks. The humans celebrate as the earth angers further. Soon enough the greed of the human ego will mother earth. The message at the end of the video is a quote from Albert Einstein.
