An interview from the 2015 Cine Gear LA Expo at Paramount Studios with Steve Cooperman of Panasonic USA & Brian Gaffney of Codex Digital. Codex is excited to be partnering with Panasonic on their exciting new 4K camera, the VariCam 35. The camera has a newly developed Super 35 image sensor and an innovative modular design. Codex has partnered with Panasonic to develop a dedicated recorder to capture uncompressed 4K Varicam RAW (V-RAW) at up to 120fps. The VariCam 35 camera is integrated so the Codex V-RAW Recorder directly attachs to the 4K camera module, eliminating any need for cables and simplifying the use of the system. Additionally, the V-RAW Recorder uses production-proven, industry-standard using the new 1TB or 2TB Capture Drive 2.0 media. These Codex Capture Drives offer 52 minutes or 1 hour 45 minutes of run time at 24 fps respectively and easily accommodates higher frame rates. The V-RAW Recorder uses the standard Codex workflow, including the Vault Platform and Vault Review, which now run on Mac OS.
