About
An interview from the 2014 PhotoPlus Expo in New York City with Jeffrey Deeken of Eizo Inc. , a leading global manufacturer of high-end visual display products. The image quality, long-term reliability, and innovative features of Eizo monitors make them the products of choice in many financial trading rooms, back offices, hospitals, air traffic control centers, design studios, and eSports organizations throughout the world. In this interview Jeffrey talks with us about their ColorEdge Color Management Monitor line, which includes the CS, CX, and CG Series monitors.
The ColorEdge CS240 is made for photographers and designers from hobbyist on up, and delivers the hardware and software essentials needed in a graphics monitor. These include a wide color gamut, brightness uniformity, and EIZO’s ColorNavigator 6 calibration software with Mac/Windows compatibility and support for a wide range of calibration devices. It also features a wide-gamut IPS (in-plane switching) with a 1920 x 1200 native resolution and reproduces 99% of the Adobe RGB color space. With this extended gamut, images shot in RAW can be converted to Adobe RGB or images shot in Adobe RGB will be displayed in vibrant and lush colors. An LED backlight reduces power consumption to just 27 watts during typical operation and utilizes brightness modulation technology for flicker-free image display to help prevent eye fatigue. The ColorEdge CS240 comes equipped with DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI input terminals. With the DisplayPort input, the monitor offers 10-bit display1 (more than one billion colors simultaneously) from a 16-bit look-up table. In addition, it can display 10-bit color via the HDMI input terminal with Deep Color applicable devices.
The CX271 offers photographers and designers an abundant 3.7 megapixels across its 27-inch screen. It comes with EIZO’s ColorNavigator calibration software and a built-in SelfCorrection sensor that maintains calibration settings according to your schedule. The CX241 also comes with a built-in SelfCorrection sensor that automatically maintains your color settings so you can enjoy its 99% Adobe RGB coverage, brightness uniformity, and other features for creative work.
The CG Series Monitors also come with 99% Adobe RGB color space coverage, 10-bit simultaneous display, hardware calibration, so these self-calibrating monitors are built to deliver optimal performance to professionals in printing, photography, and post production.
All of these Eizo monitors come standard with DUE (digital uniformity equalizer) technology which compensates for uniformity errors common to all LCD panels to produce more even brightness and color across the screen.
