About
This is a documentary I shot and edited for my introductory production class at Northwestern. Together with two of my classmates, we researched subjects for the film and decided to profile The Actors' Gymnasium in Evanston, IL. The Actors' Gymnasium, founded by Lawrence DiStasi and Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi, has dedicated itself to bringing a new physicality to American theatre. They teach circus arts and physical theatre to children and adults. The gym also produce multiple works of circus-theatre every year. I conducted the interviews with each of our subjects, and we filmed circus classes, B-roll, and the opening night performance of The Exploding Boy.
