About
The Weather Channel contracted BMG to provide production services for a live news production as part of a webcast series for Discovery Education and The Weather Channel entitled “Connect with Weather”. This was to be a one-hour virtual field trip streamed live via the web to 40,000 middle school students across the U.S. The dynamic program gave students the opportunity to learn about the science behind severe weather, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the Weather Channel’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
BMG was responsible for all logistical production management and planning. One segment of the program, featuring a Weather Channel meteorologist and a Discovery Education moderator, required BMG to send a 2-camera feed from a classroom in Los Angeles, CA and receive a return feed from Atlanta. BMG’s EVP of West Coast Operations, Steve McIntire, managed all the local production services with the support of BMG’s operational staff for a smooth, well executed event.
