About

The 2010 SkillsUSA State Competition for "Television Production Video" was a thrilling test of skills and nerves.
The challenge was to produce a finished one-minute commercial, in 6 hours, promoting the excellence of Skills USA for education.
Our two person team analyzed the core values and message of SkillsUSA in promoting industry standards and life skills. We brainstormed and determined that an acrostic using the letters SKILLS would provide tight, compelling narrative. The acrostic was then matched with five high profile trade skills of 97 offerings. People from each trade skill were then obtained and collaborated to finalize narrative and optimize scene selection. The video was captured with a JVC GY-HM600 with a wireless lapel microphone.
We achieved 1st Place at the Kansas SkillsUSA Television Production Competition, and advanced to Nationals.
