About

There is an upside to the down and out situation Detroit is in. Affordable places to make art. Empty schoolrooms rented out to musicians and producers at a low cost that enables the producer to pass along the savings to up and coming starving artists (musicians). The effect is a thriving underground music scene in Detroit that would be able to afford to exist in places like New York, Chicago, LA and Seattle for the simple fact that the rent would be too high.

This short documentary piece introduces musician/producer Adam Cox. He rents out the former library of Malcolm X Academy as a recording studio complete with the latest gear as well as an old, but sought after two inch tape machine.
He explains how he got started recording and how he is able to make a living recording other bands in Detroit. His band Wasabi Dream is also featured in the soundtrack of the film.
