Local Woman with Unique Idea has Booming Business
Do you just not have enough time in the day to get it all done? One local woman started a service to help you out with all of your errands.
Sherrie Gordon calls herself a concierge.
"How many times have you heard somebody say, 'Gosh there's just not enough time in my day,' and they hear about the services I provide, and the phone's been ringing off the hook," said Gordon.
She runs almost any type of errand for people big or small.
Steve Valentine, who works at Emergicare, was one of her clients on Thursday. Gordon planned his weekend staff meeting and got his dry-cleaning.
"Actually been a very nice service both on the business side that we do here and on a personal side. We've been able to contact Sherrie in times when we just didn't have a staff member to go run a certain errand," said Valentine.
But it's not just business professionals who take advantage of Sherrie's services.
"Busy professionals, busy moms. You know it's a business that's for everyone, and what I love about it is there are no limits, if you call me, as long as it's legal, I'd be glad to take care of it," said Gordon.
Gordon's keeps a full itinerary for the day, and one of the things on it for Thursday was to pick up lunch from Smokin' Pig and bring it to someone at work.
She said it's the little errands that really help people out, and keep her business going.
Whether it's getting lunch, picking up dry-cleaning or planning a party, she does it all.
Gordon said in a tough economy, it's great to be able to create your own business. Plus, she loves that she's always helping others.
"It really takes a big chunk of your time that, you know, I can do in 15 minutes."
Gordon said she started her business about a year ago because she saw a need for it in the Harrisonburg area.
