About Us

The Certificate Program in Film and Video gives students with any major the opportunity to bring together courses from several departments into a multidisciplinary curriculum emphasizing all aspects of film and video. Participating are faculty from communication, literature, languages, anthropology, theater, art, and other disciplines. The program, approximately the equivalent of a minor, offers scholarly study of the history, theory and criticism of film, video and television as well as hands-on courses in video production. It is designed to provide exposure to, and critical and conceptual frameworks for, the enormous diversity of international film and video, both industrial and artistic. In addition, courses in video production and scriptwriting make possible the exploration of artistic and technical choices as well as the development of professional skills.
