Grand Valley State - Arts and Humanities

About Us

Strong hands-on emphasis characterizes the Film & Video Production major. The curriculum integrates production experience with the insights offered by media history, theory, and criticism. Students are encouraged to recognize the increasing synthesis between computers, film, video, and audio.

Graduates find a wide range of professional employment, both in West Michigan and nationally, including positions in the feature film industry on the West Coast, in the expanding field of computer animation, at regional radio and television stations, advertising agencies, in cable and public access management, and with production and post-production houses, school systems, and corporations. Other students have chosen to continue their education in graduate school, usually working toward the master of fine arts degree.
