Castle Rock Entertainment, a motion picture and television production company, was formed in the summer of 1987 by Alan Horn, Glenn Padnick, Rob Reiner, Andrew Scheinman and Martin Shafer. The Company was purchased by Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. in late 1993 and in 1996, Ted Turner merged his empire with Time/Warner. Recently, Time Warner and America Online (AOL) in a merger of equals, have formed the largest media company in history.
