Sion Michel

About Me

Sion's passion is to shoot captivating, visually compelling imagery, whether it be 30 seconds or 120 minutes.

A graduate of the National Australian Film School with a Masters Degree in Cinematography, Sion has received numerous Awards, including a British Academy award nomination for best cinematography in 2001 for the BBC documentary 'Beyond The Fatal Shore'.

Commercial clients include BMW, Chevrolet, Adidas, Rayban, and Coca Cola. In September 2004 Sion lensed the National Award winning spot,‘Klownen’ for Converse.

In January 2004 Sion was Additional Camera Operator on ‘Collateral’, starring Tom Cruise.

Sion recently shot the indie feature ‘Laura Smiles’ produced by RKO. It screened in competition at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival.

In January 2005, Sion finished production on the Dreamworks Picture,‘Memoirs of a Geisha',as the Second Unit DP and Camera Operator.
