Contego Intumescent Latex also known as Contego Fire Barrier Latex has been proven, tested and is now being distributed throughout the world. It is unique in many ways. However, one of the the most unique properties is that it becomes an effective fire barrier when applied directly to OSB or Structural Insulated Panels having passed ASTM E 84, UBC 26-3, UBC 26-2 and the California State Fire Marshal''s interior coatings fire barrier testing. Fire Barrier Latex, whether directly applied or applied over textured OSB eliminates the need for drywall or gypsum, according to the manufacturer. Fire Barrier Latex is a water soluble paint which is non-toxic.
