The 5th Festival of the Dhow Countries, East Africa’s largest cultural event, takes place in Zanzibar 28th June – 13th July 2002, in magnificent, historical venues along the waterfront of Stone Town.

Celebrating the unique cultural heritage of the ''Dhow'' countries: the African continent and the Indian Ocean region and their global Diaspora.

Established in 1998 as the Zanzibar International Film Festival, The Festival of the Dhow Countries now promotes an extensive programme of Films, Music & Performing Arts, Women''s events, Children''s Panorama, Workshops & Seminars, Exhibitions and Mini-Festivals in villages throughout the Zanzibar islands of Unguja & Pemba.
