About Us
In July 2002, ALBERTA FILM was created to provide an efficient one-window approach to serve local, national and international filmmakers. Alberta Film brings together two provincial departments – Alberta Economic Development and Alberta Community Development -- in support of the film industry.
The Alberta Film Commission (reporting to Alberta Economic Development) markets Alberta as a filming location, assists filmmakers with location information and scouting, and operates as a liaison with facilities, services, businesses and government.
The Film Development Office (reporting to Alberta Community Development) supports and facilitates the continued growth and self-sufficiency of Alberta-based producers and delivers the Alberta Film Development Program on behalf of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
