- Where did the idea for creating the MoVI M5 come from?**
We always wanted to bring all the advanced capabilities and performance of the M10 to the DSLR community. To allow them to achieve the big budget camera moves that were previously inaccessible is really exciting.The feedback we have been getting from early adopters has been really great and people are genuinely excited about the M5 which is awesome. Very simply, we feel that the MoVI M5 democratizes a sophisticated technology and puts it in the hands of a whole cross section of filmmakers who also have the desire to capture incredibly stable, dynamic footage.
*** What are a few of the MoVI M5’s main selling features?**
One of the main features of the MoVI M5 is the fully enclosed camera cage, which allows for maximum rigidity and shot stability. The system also includes an improved adjustable camera plate, simplified fully tool-less balancing and a quick release top handle to allow for rapid adjustment. An overhauled Inverted Mode allows for more comfortable eye level camera angles and we just previewed our new Auto Tune algorithm that allows for one-touch tuning which will be available very soon!

- What trends in pro cinematography do you see on the horizon?**
I think that highly-customized cameras and rigs are going to continue to have an increased presence on professional sets, with films such as Avatar and Gravity being perfect examples of how to implement new technologies for specific story-telling purposes. With the technology really becoming ubiquitous, the only barrier at that point becomes creativity and execution.
*** Where do you see the future of Freefly Systems headed?**
We will continue expanding the MoVI and CineStar platforms to reach new sections of the market and believe the technology we have developed has applications on every level of filmmaking. Stay tuned to see how we think we can create relevant products for productions of all scales over the next couple of years!

- Are there any other events Freefly Systems will be attending this year that you can share with our audience?**
We will be attending Cine Gear LA in early June and IBC over in Amsterdam later this year, with many other shows in the pipeline. The MoVI will continue to be at REDucation and we encourage filmmakers to check out Vincent Laforet’s Directing Motion Tour over the next couple of months as well.
